The Virtue of Humility

Our natural inclination is self-promotion, self-justification, and being drawn toward those things we perceive will enhance self-admiration. The apostle Paul addresses this age-old human problem in Romans 12:3. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. He addresses this concern “to every man,” which confirms the fact that we all have this tendency.

Exercising Ourselves Unto Godliness

Americans are somewhat obsessed with physical exercise and fitness. People of all ages exert themselves to extreme measures in pursuit of greater physical health. Folks go to significant measures to “workout.” Ironically, while people shy away from careers which require manual labor, they will invest time, money and energy into a daily or weekly “workout.” Even some churches are advertising a “fitness ministry.” One can observe folks who exercise almost to the point of exhaustion.

The Christian Woman’s Veiling

God-honoring people have practiced the Christian Woman’s veiling for many, many years; and, today is an earmark of Bible believing and Bible practicing individuals and church groups. This ordinance is taught primarily in I Corinthians 11:1-16; and the practice is also referenced throughout the Holy Scriptures. We include this practice with the ordinances since the veiled or covered head symbolizes a heart attitude of a woman accepting her role in God’s divine order of headship as outlined in this passage.

Rumble Strips

The US Interstate system and secondary roadways are lined with thousands of miles of “rumble strips”. These carved indentations in the asphalt and concrete are designed to produce a sharp rumbling noise to alert drivers they are drifting to the edge.
There are many reasons one would drift off the road. These may include drowsiness, carelessness, eating, being deep in thought, mobile device distractions, etc. There are many driver distractions that take the driver’s mind off the focus of navigating his vehicle in a careful and safe manner.
