The need for discernment is as great in current times as in any time in history. We need to receive the Word, and need to critique what has been shared with the Bible. The world is not a friend to God's Grace, therefore the need for discernment.
Current dangers:
Pursuing the Mennonite American dream.
Looking inward to ourselves to realize who we are and to realize our potential; belief in self. Also having a relationship with and immersing oneself in nature.
So called Christian counseling that creates people who are takers instead of givers because what life has dealt to them gives them the right to be who they are.
A de-emphasis on the value and authority of the church. Also the emphasis on the Anabaptist name to avoid using the Mennonite name.
Softening towards worldliness and accomodating it.
