Are You Real?

Recently Facebook announced their corporate name change from Facebook to Meta. Meta comes from their vision of the future, a Metaverse. What is this Metaverse they are referring to? It is the current Facebook on steroids. Currently, people post on Facebook about themselves, what they are doing, and what they want others to see in their lives. In the Metaverse, you will create a virtual world to live in and interact with other people.

The Word Was Made Flesh

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God… And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth (John 1:1, 2, 14).

An Expectant Attitude

Isaiah 40:31 is a favorite Bible verse for many people because of God’s promise to give weary people strength to continue on. But what exactly does it mean to wait upon the Lord? I like the Amplified definition, in brackets: But they that wait [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

The Torn Veil

It was a Friday afternoon, and the priests were busy getting ready for the afternoon sacrifice. It wasn’t a normal Friday afternoon sacrifice; today was the Passover. The priests were preparing for the customary 3 o’clock sacrifice to make atonement for the people as they had done so many times before.

By Force or By Grace

2020 will be etched in our minds for years. It felt like things were forced on us in a way we never previously experienced. We were forced to wear masks. Forced to stay at home. Forced to have church at home. In numerous cities across the nation, BLM activists used force to try to get their message across to the nation. Then the 2020 elections started. There were reports of poll watchers being forced to stay way back from their posts. President Trump began to argue that the election was taken by force and was fraudulent.

God, WHY!

Twenty-five years ago this past October, a man lay deathly ill in a hospital, dying from a ten year battle with cancer. A few days before, he had been told that pneumonia had set in and he was not likely to recover from it; the family had come to give their last goodbyes. His brother was keeping vigil through the night as the man slept an exhausted sleep. Suddenly, he roused and looked up at the ceiling with a smile on his face. Then his breaths slowed and stopped as the angels took him Home.

Quietness in a Busy World

Beep, someone texted; ding, another email to follow up on; ring, someone calling with a question; bleep, an instant message from a friend; waa, the baby cries for our attention; and on and on.… In our busy, fast paced, highly connected society, the need to be still and know God is greater than ever before.

Moses The Meekest Man

“Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth” (Num 12:3). This is a very strong statement awarded to a man; to be one who wholly relies on God rather than his own strength. Two questions that come to us are, firstly, “What can we learn from this patriarch,” and secondly, “How did he receive this blessing?” To help us better understand Moses, we need to reflect upon several things. Where did Moses come from, and what things affected his life? Was he meek, or did something impact his life to bring about this result?
